Edward Hicks
Edward is an award winning director and acting coach who in August 2019 became Principal of The Oxford School of drama. Bringing with him a wealth of industry, teaching and directing experience, Ed took over from the founder (who had been in post for 35 years). With a passion for enabling the next generation to create a new and better industry full of new voices, his role as Principal is combined with both teaching (especially screen work) and directing.

The Oxford School of Drama
Previously at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art he created the Film department and a new screen acting curriculum as Head of Film,TV and Radio at RADA, a post supported by Warner Bros (UK) that he held for eleven years.
​
As a teacher and as an acting coach he has worked at various drama schools and film schools and has trained many leading actors and technicians. He has directed numerous award winning Shorts, works as an acting coach with private clients on films and television shows, is a regular speaker at film festivals (including BAFTA, BFI and ASFF), has written about screen acting for publications including the Stage, the Guardian and the Actor's Yearbook and is currently completing a book for Bloomsbury on Screen Acting.
